I'm an independent brand strategist and writer who helps consumer brands uncover what makes them distinctive and express it with greater clarity.
The strategy lens I bring
My work begins with understanding before action. I believe the strongest strategies are discovered by paying close attention to people, organizations, and the patterns others often overlook.
My perspective has been shaped by the lived experience of sitting alongside the people who bring brands to life and rolling up my sleeves with them.
I've spent my career working across agencies, inside Whole Foods Market, and with founders and leadership teams. Each experience offered a different view of how organizations make decisions, navigate constraints, and build trust with the people they serve. Together, they've shaped not only what I know, but how I listen.
That's why discovery has become the foundation of nearly every engagement I lead. Whether I'm interviewing stakeholders, facilitating workshops, auditing a brand, or talking with founders, I'm looking for the thread that already exists.
Finding that thread gives us a place to stand. It helps us move with confidence because we're solving the right problem. And sometimes itโs not the most obvious one.
My job is to recognize it, give it language, and build strategy that reflects both an organization's truth and the reality of the market it serves.
Who I Do My Best Work With
I'm at my best when I'm working with people who care deeply about what they're building.
Founders with a clear vision but too many competing priorities. Leadership teams trying to align around what makes them truly distinctive. Agencies looking for a strategic partner who can bring fresh perspective to a client challenge. Organizations that know they have something meaningful to offer but need the clarity and confidence to express it.
Good, effective strategy is about uncovering what already makes an organization worth caring about, then helping it express that truth distinctively, consistently, thoughtfully, and with intention.
The work itself is deeply collaborative. I ask a lot of questions. I listen carefully. I look for patterns that connect seemingly unrelated ideas. Complexity begins to simplify. Teams start speaking the same language. Decisions become clearer because they're rooted in something people recognize as true.
I love helping organizations better understand themselves, so the people they serve can understand them, too.
What shaped my POV
For as long as I can remember, I've been drawn to understanding how people shape the places around them. I practically grew up in a grocery store, where my mom spent more than thirty years working as a butcher.
Long before I worked with food and consumer brands, I spent countless hours wandering grocery store aisles while my mom worked behind the meat counter. I didn't know it then, but I was already fascinated by the products people reached for, the stories on the packaging, and the small choices that quietly shape everyday life.
Food has always been my favorite lens for understanding culture. Through restaurants, grocery stores, neighborhoods, local businesses, and the rituals that bring people together, I've seen how businesses, products, and everyday experiences become woven into the fabric of our lives.
This curiosity has guided every chapter of my career. Whether I was working inside Whole Foods Market, partnering with agencies, or advising founders, I found myself asking the same questions that shape both my consulting and my writing:
What makes people care?
What earns their trust?
What turns a first-time customer into a loyal one?
What makes someone proudly wear a brand on a T-shirt, recommend it to a friend, or weave it into the rituals of their everyday life?
Through my consultancy, I primarily partner with food, beverage, hospitality, retail, and consumer brands to uncover and articulate what makes them genuinely distinctive. Through my writing, I explore the ways brands, businesses, neighborhoods, and local institutions shape the culture of Austin and Central Texas. They may look like different pursuits at face value, but to me they're expressions of the same belief.
I've believe that businesses, products, gathering places, and everyday rituals quietly shape how we experience where we live. This keeps me curious, and itโs why this work is meaningful to me.
